Hi girls n guys...
Just to let y'all know that I'm going through a process of assigning moderators to each board. I have put an advertisement on gumtree as a shoutout for anyone interested to volunteer as a moderator. I am going to be looking for around 30 moderators but this will come all in good time. I will be grateful to any applicants for the role whenever they apply - the process of assigning moderators to each board will be, say, a work in progress.
I am announcing this, to let you all know who the moderators are as and when they are assigned to a board, so this will be a 'sticky' thread meaning it will always stay stuck to the top of the board amongst all the posts in News & Announcements, that way it can easily be found by any member and will be clearly visible to new members.
A list of the moderators and the board they are assigned to moderate are as follows:
BOARD / MODERATOR / USERNAME
CARERS CRIB - ROB WILLIAMS - robwilliams
PHYSICAL ILLNESS - RIVKA - rivkalipz
RELATIONSHIPS - RIVKA - rivkalipz
Also if anyone is interested or knows someone who would be interested in becoming a board moderator please get in touch.
Here is a copy of the ad I posted on gumtree for the MODERATOR roles.

Looking to make a difference and reach out to people in need?
Then this may be the perfect voluntary job for you...
CHEERS TO MY TEARS is a support network consisting of a website, online forum and facebook page, with the aim of supporting people through any kind of pain - mental or physical, by offering hope, encouragement and a place to turn to when the world seems like a lonely place.
The website was originally set up by individual with first hand experience of mental illness, and who is currently in constant physical pain with a rare, complex condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
She wanted to make a difference to the lives of others in similar circumstances, and pass on the strength that she found in suffering herself.
We are currently looking for a number of applicants interested in being moderators for the support forum and facebook page. The moderator roles will involve the monitoring of both the forum and facebook page, or either one, to ensure that there is a regular flow of posting activity by replying to posts offering support and encouragement and also creating new posts/threads which shall be of interest to the forums members.
It is also within your job role to monitor general activity within the forum, to promote and advertise the forum and website and also to ensure that forum rules are adhered to by all members.
Anything that is not certain or not understood should be brought up with the administrator. A brief training period will be given to all applicants who are successful in qualifying for this role.
No formal qualifications are needed however the ability to communicate with others on a high level, the willing to listen and sympathise and the passion for helping others are all required qualities in applicants.
The forum itself contains many boards appertaining to different subjects such as mental illness, physical illness, work & education, relationships, diet & exercise, entertainment, hobbies & interests, fun & games, polls and more. We are looking for global moderators or moderators for a specific board (each board shall eventually need it's individual moderator and moderators can choose a preferred board to work on subject to availability).
As you are aware this is a voluntary position and therefore applicants who qualify will not be paid. However, there is the hope and possibility that admins and moderators could be paid, at least a token payment, eventually (within 6 months to a year).
Key skills: organisation, communication, literacy, imagination, innovation.
Key qualities: dedicated, passionate, caring, enthusiastic, understanding, non judgemental.
Should an applicant apply who has a history of mental health illness, they will not be ruled out of the selection process. It is often beneficial for a moderator to have previous life experience, although the time period of stability is the key factor as to whether the applicant will qualify.
Thank you for taking the time to read this job specification.
If you are interested in applying, please contact Laura Gould, administrator for Cheers To My Tears, and you will receive a speedy response.
